Covid 19

 COVID-19 UPDATE

This is an update to the announcement made at the general membership meeting on 3/9/2020.

We have relayed to our employers that CWA Local 13101 is concerned with the health and safety of the membership we represent. Our goal is to make sure we are providing our membership, their employees the most comprehensive safety and prevention measures in an environment that encourages our membership to engage in open and free communication without fear of reprisal or negative impacts on pay or continued employment.

Local 13101 and District 2-13 have developed plans for some groups to work from home if they are able. Local 13101 has engaged in the conversation of home garaging for technicians as well as the ability to assign “safer” work for those members who meet the more vulnerable criteria of underlying health conditions and/or advanced age. We have discussed the easier ability to take time off to care for children, with the latest hurdle of school closings.

The employers seem to be willing to build a cooperative solution to each scenario, but we will need to communicate consistently to ensure we care for all the problems we may face in the coming days.

If any member suspects they have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus notify your supervisor immediately as well as informing union officers or stewards to be sure the proper steps are taken for treatment.

Local 13101 officers are available to work with every member day and night to get through this.

We have tried to account for all the difficulties that lie ahead , and we will deal with every member and every concern together as a union.

SOLIDARITY FOREVER,

JIM RYAN
